Can I take graduation photos in the library?

Yes, but only in specific places at specific times.

Normally, students need to fill out a Filming & Photography Request Form for a photo shoot. This is so that we can work with the photographer to identify times and places that are appropriate.

For graduation photos, we want to make the process simpler for everyone. Therefore, we do not require a completed form, but we do have some rules. These rules apply during the last month of the semester (for the 30 days before finals begin):

  1. Photographers and their subjects need to follow the Library Filming and Photography Policy

  1. Students and their photographers need to check in at the Library North desk. Photographers who do not have a Panther Card will need to provide a government-issued photo ID. A security guard registers non-GSU guests in our visitor management system.

  1. Only one photographer may accompany a student, and the photographer is limited to one bag of equipment, which is subject to search by security.

  1. During weekday hours (Monday – Friday, 7 am – 5 pm), graduation photo shoots are allowed in only two locations:

  • the 3rd floor of Library North and

  • the Library North Terrace (2nd floor).

  1. After 5 pm and on weekends, photography is permitted in other areas, but photographers should be respectful of students studying as they select locations. No photography is permitted on floors 5 – 8.

No photo shoots are permitted during finals. After the last day of finals, students should use the Filming & Photography Request Form
