What does it mean when an item in the catalog says it's "Missing" or "Lost"?

If an item is marked as Missing in the catalog, it means that the item was not checked out, but it couldn’t be found on the shelf or in the library. It has been missing since the date listed in the Missing status.

If an item is marked as Lost in the catalog, it means that the item was checked out by a patron and has not been returned. Items that are overdue for an extended period of time are also marked as lost. The item has been considered lost since the date listed in the Lost status.
