Visitor access to databases

Answer

Visitors (including Alumni) cannot access GSU databases off campus.

Visitors can access most databases on all campuses by obtaining a visitor pass at the service desk and using visitor computers. For information about specific databases, see the A-Z List.

Exceptions:

  • Atlanta Campus Only - The database is not available on Perimeter Campuses.
  • Requires additional registration/authentication - When there is a note in the database description  saying that a GSU email or other account is required for access, the database is unavailable to visitors.  If also designated as "Atlanta Campus Only," the databases is restricted to only Atlanta campus patrons on- and off-campus.

Example: s link opens in a new windowThis opens a pop-up window to share the URL for this database

ATLANTA CAMPUS ONLY. This database provides web-based digital technical and business reference content, containing reference books, journals, research reports, and documentation. Note: Users must first register with their GSU email address

  • On-campus only - The database is only available on campus. If Atlanta/Perimeter are not specified, the database is available on all campuses.

Example:

Note: This database is only accessible on computers inside the GSU Library.

Some databases are restricted to a particular browser and/or a limited number of users; these restrictions aren't specific to visitors.
