The University Library does not select textbooks for Georgia State University classes as a general policy. Licensing restrictions often prohibit digital textbook sales to libraries, and the high cost of textbooks and their frequent revisions makes purchasing all textbooks financially prohibitive. The University Library will purchase faculty requests for non-textbook materials that support course or project work, dependent on price and availability. Instructors may contribute copies of textbooks to our library reserves desk. The University Library will also help instructors locate online Open Educational Resources (OER), DRM-free eBooks licensed for unlimited users, and streaming media that may be used as course material.
